I’ve chosen this morning to cycle to “town” based on weather forecast (raining y’day & will rain tomorrow) & dwindling food supplies - but - apparently it’s a holiday in Croatia & shops are closed! Still : enjoying early lunch & sun & the river :) #LikaLodge
Rainy day at #LikaLodge : I’ve mostly tended fire & cooked, emailed a bit - and I got the best surprise in the evening: the dog is back!!! 🥰🐕🌈 (I’ve made elderflower syrup & half-baked pizza …)
Good morning from #LikaLodge : stone ecosystems edition! Delightful little “gardens” that remind me of Japanese styled arrangements & #bonsai … but IRL! Succulents, mosses, water pools … all before 6AM! Life is great!
Plants & animals this dawn near #LikaLodge : (possibly?) magic mushrooms that grow on sh!t , prickly beauty , & the face of the mountains! Bountiful nature after the rains! Plus all the birds I cannot see - but I hear them: so loud & clear!
#InterRail travel day: Zagreb-Berlin . Morning started good: after staying with family (& cat!) & receiving their help & love, I got to the train station mostly dry & on time; thd 2nd #train is leaving on time so there’s hope I’ll catch the next one (in infamous Villach)! #Seat42
Update! Due to a “Faak”-ery in the SEE/Balkans (long delay - missed my connection) & after a lot of planning & juggling with FlixBus / train options, I decided to stay overnight in Villach, then take an early train tomorrow. Now, with the cancellations because of storm damages in Germany, I do hope I will get to Berlin at all! or at least to Munich,… & then : I’ll make a new plan. #InterRain #InterRail #ClimateChaos #climate #chaos
@becha can you re-route via Vienna and Praha?
That's what I would probably do to be on the safe side. I don't know how this is possible with @becha #interrail ticket though.
There are two decent connections, one using night train and the daytime option. Although the former is not compatible with overnight stay in hotel and the latter might be too early for decent hotel breakfast.
Maybe going via Passau and continuing on local German lines near Czech border might also be an option.
@becha Good luck! I have a train early tomorrow morning from Linz to Berlin, so let's hope everyone is able to get there.
