Anyone know how to bulk-delete a bazillion calendar entries? Ran my usual medication reminder shortcut after the iOS 17 update and for some reason it did an infinite loop. I’m afraid of what’s going to happen when they all try to send a notification at the same time 😭 I think I’m going to have to nuke the whole calendar. @viticci @johnvoorhees

@holly l think shortcuts can save you.

Create a variable with the given title.

Use the find events calendar action with the variable as the title, with controlling parameters hitting the timeframe of the duplicated entries.

Use the delete events action.

(I haven’t tried this fully but I have verified it finds events in my calendar as a list which I didn’t delete because I thankfully didn’t infinite loop myself.)

@holly @viticci @johnvoorhees Not sure how to fix that problem, but in case you aren't aware, iOS has a built-in recurring medication reminder system in the Health App, that you can now set to nag you if you haven't logged your medicine on time, and may be a way to replace your reminders going forward if you can't fix your shortcut.

@moof @viticci @johnvoorhees I tried it, but I take my meds every four hours after the first one, and my morning schedule is always a little chaotic so that first one is never at the same time, so I needed a more flexible solution. The Due app is my favorite, it nags and doesn’t give up, and I can create the reminders with shortcuts. I’m just not gonna bother with the Calendar going forward.

@holly
The ancient DateBk5/4/3 on Palm OS, now Pimlical, has 'repeat from checkoff'.

Any reminder or task can be set to repeat after x hours/days/weeks/months but all the future repeats reset from the moment the current reminder is marked 'Done'. If it's not marked Done, it floats to the next day.

Fleaspray the cat every 30 days. If you leave it 32 then mark it done, the next will be 30 days away from when you marked it done. Why does no-one else offer this?

@blingoali @moof @viticci @johnvoorhees I think everyone does do that now. Goodtasks, Things, Ticktick, Due, and Todoist all do it (so all the ones I’ve tried in the last few years)
