Standing under this heater makes my phone go to full brightness. Does it use an IR sensor for auto dimming?

@th I think most camera sensors are far more sensitive in infrared, and have a filter to compensate.
I've seen projects that convert webcams into infrared cameras by removing the sensor.

In the other direction, my cameras can't see the difference between blue and violet!
Someday I want to make art that can't be capture with a phone camera.

@th wouldn't be surprised if they just neglected to throw an IR filter in front of the sensor. If your camera lacked an IR filter, you'd know, but if your brightness sensor did, almost no one would care.

@phooky when I was hacking on the Valve Lighthouse, I found the cheapest android phone to check the lasers since it didn't have an IR filter on either camera... trmm.net/Lighthouse/

@th @phooky I always use my cellphone camera to test the TV remote to see if the batteries ran out.
