Is uvc implementation just a big shit show on this camera or what's going on here?!
I'm fiddling with ubuntu and cameras the whole day now and I'm just DONE with it. How hard can it be to make a functioning webcam or grabber?
@bleeptrack oh yeah, no end of trouble, particularly with cheap webcams. I try to stick with logitech nowadays for that reason. They're common enough to at least usually be mostly well-tested.
@s0 @bleeptrack Elen ran into a cursed Logitech USB-C webcam that causes all kinds of issues
@uint8_t @s0 @bleeptrack logitech streamcam doesn't play nice with... anything really. webcams are a total mess, i wonder if modern e.g. Sony cameras which have a USB streaming function are better.
@bleeptrack @ln @uint8_t @s0 i have a very fancy full frame mirror less with uvc "support" and it's not as flexible as I had hoped. Image quality is amazing but there are zero controls exposed over the USB port and it won't charge while streaming.
@bleeptrack @ln @uint8_t @s0 yes, the older Sigma FP with the 40mm f/2.8 I don't know if the newer ones have improved the UVC controls or fixed the charging (i use a battery eliminator in mine)
