Oh no I just realised that almost nobody gets the "You have new mail" notification in bash any more except when they've got weird cron mail as root

@th @mjg59 true fact: when i first moved to the US i didn't understand why the mail carrier wasn't putting up the little flag for me to signal when i had new mail. I blame xbiff for this
