It’s only kraanwater if it comes from the Kraansluis region of Amsterdam. Otherwise it’s just flat tap juice.

@th Now wait a sec. In Finnish we have “kraanavesi” meaning tap water. My Finnish etymological dictionary says kraana comes from Estonian and German, meaning both a crane and a water tap. Now you're adding Kraansluis to the equation.

Kraan in Dutch also means crane and water tap.
But in Amsterdam we call tap water gemeentepils (municipality beer)

The lock is called Kraansluis because there was a huge crane standing near the IJ between 1643 and 1841.
