We’ve put the Golden Gate Bridge behind our rudder and will be off line for the next month as we cross the Pacific.

Internet comes in via geosynchronous satellite that is directly ahead and can’t pass through the three masts, so we’ve altered course slightly to check email for the first time in a few days.

A rainbow brought us a little bit of Internet this morning.

40 kts wind so it’s time to furl the top gallant.

Hope for a quiet evening watch without too much sail handling

Other than occasional checking on the braces and sheets we didn’t touch the sails all night

So much water! We’re hoping to see Hawaii soon to take on more provisions.

Lousy weather as we approach the island, but better internet service and so much wind that we’re making 7.5 kts on the fore lower topsail alone.

@th welcome to the west coast! we're .. .. seattle now, i guess? the weather down in san diego certainly makes it feel that way. enjoy the winds! i hope they help!

are you actually sailing across the ocean?

did you score a starlink dish? because that could be pretty neat

@th Beautiful! Quick, someone helicopter-drop of satellite terminal so we can get more under-way 'blog photos!

@th oh! I saw the ship in port and wondered what it was and there you were on it?! wild

@th as some of us in Polish sailing community say:

> kilo wody pod stopą!

"[may you always have at least] a kilo of water under your foot"

Which is a bastardization of:

> stopy wody pod kilem!

"[may you always have at least] a foot of water under your keel"

@th “I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a geosynchronous satellite to steer her by;”

@th

This may be my favorite post of all time. Fair winds and calm seas to you 🫡⛵. I am now going to try and learn more about this adventure.

@th have you considered putting your antenna on the mast

@th that much closer to geosynchronous orbit!

@th Wait you're on like a traditional Ship?
That's actually really awesome!

@th Very nice image. The washed out waves came out really well.

@th I hereby allow this ship to sail in orca waters

@th That seems like just entirely too much water, if you ask me.

@th Is your route/location public ? It would be fun to follow it on a map...

@steely_glint @th

They have AIS, so you can follow it on marinetraffic. Zoom out 5 or 6 times to bring in hawaii.

@th

How many people does it take to crew a ship like that?

@alienghic @th Website says 30 crew. 3 shifts means 10 on duty, another 10 awake and available at any time. (Assuming this is it: stadamsterdam.com/het-schip/ )

@th Fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing! It feels like you're on the boat yourself (of course not, but maybe a bit...)🌊 Safe journey!

@th
🥥 As a geriatric land lubber, Eye just love that there's an entire lexicon of boat, sea, and ship lingo most of which Eye've never encountered on land and probably never will.
It's just reassuring somehow to know that it exists, Trammell. 🥥

@th if you land on kauai, i have a short list of places you should go eat lots of foods :D
