Internet comes in via geosynchronous satellite that is directly ahead and can’t pass through the three masts, so we’ve altered course slightly to check email for the first time in a few days.
@th “I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a geosynchronous satellite to steer her by;”
This may be my favorite post of all time. Fair winds and calm seas to you 🫡⛵. I am now going to try and learn more about this adventure.
@th that’s wild! I love it
@th have you considered putting your antenna on the mast
@th that much closer to geosynchronous orbit!
@th it's where the bosun posts all the open jobs
Fair winds and a quiet watch.
@th Very nice image. The washed out waves came out really well.
@th I hereby allow this ship to sail in orca waters
@th that looks like a fantastic adventure
@th That seems like just entirely too much water, if you ask me.
@th Is your route/location public ? It would be fun to follow it on a map...
@steely_glint @th Seems to be the Stad Amsterdam: https://www.stadamsterdam.com/
They have AIS, so you can follow it on marinetraffic. Zoom out 5 or 6 times to bring in hawaii.

How many people does it take to crew a ship like that?
@alienghic @th Website says 30 crew. 3 shifts means 10 on duty, another 10 awake and available at any time. (Assuming this is it: https://www.stadamsterdam.com/het-schip/ )
@th Fantastic pictures, thanks for sharing! It feels like you're on the boat yourself (of course not, but maybe a bit...)🌊 Safe journey!
@th '
Ah, the romance of sail.
@th
🥥 As a geriatric land lubber, Eye just love that there's an entire lexicon of boat, sea, and ship lingo most of which Eye've never encountered on land and probably never will.
It's just reassuring somehow to know that it exists, Trammell. 🥥
@th Sandwich.
@th if you land on kauai, i have a short list of places you should go eat lots of foods :D
@th ding dong!
@th BEL
@th very nice work!
@th Oh, right next to the Aloha Tower.
This used to be the big cruise ship terminal. These days, it's one of the quieter spots in central Honolulu.
@th Ooh, you're flying the Dutch flag! Didn't know that.
@th where will you do landfall in japan?
@th Safe travels to the Land of the Rising Sun!
@th Clew, bunt, bunt, leech... Pretty! Staying on till Tokyo ?
@FuzzyAleks everyone one is on the boat until Tokyo since we can’t engage in cabotage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merchant_Marine_Act_of_1920
A rainbow brought us a little bit of Internet this morning.
