@mxshift the original Microsoft Cerberus design had eight fuse slots for owner keys based on their analysis that an average machine went through three owners. not sure if that survived into Pluton or whatever it became.

@Viss @hacks4pancakes I couldn't find the perfect end-table, so I banged one together from reclaimed pallets. The amp and computer slide into place and the PS4 is hiding behind the stack since I realized that we never touch the physical device anymore.

@bikerglen I was hoping for visible, like the Cyclops camera. maybe it does require DRAM and the SRAM isn't sensitive enough.

This NMOS SRAM chip seems impervious to light. I’ve had it exposed for several minutes with zero bit flips.

Luckily there was a 5v microcontroller in the parts bin for easier interfacing with this Soviet NMOS SRAM chip.

@peterbjornx that's an amazing find! I used to have an VAX-11/730 running 4.2BSD in my dorm room and still have the scars on my knuckles from moving it.

@becha such pleasing symmetry! reminds me of one of my best:

@hacks4pancakes building codes require each room to have at least one mystery switch

@dan @dan @elb @phooky the model 15 had a totally different layout that also mapped directly to its encoding social.v.st/@th/10975746046619

@lmorchard @phooky do you have the one with my entry that inspired a new rule for the Obfuscated Perl Contest?

@phooky meanwhile 5-bit baudot has both 1 and !, although they are both in the FIGS space so they share encodings with Q and F in LTRS.

@phooky I always assumed they are on the same key since shift sets bit five and 1 is 0x21 while ! is 0x31 in ascii.

@phooky old Configure scripts would detect the missing 1 and use l instead.

@quixoticgeek in Star Trek VI, the Klingon ship's gravity generator is damaged by a photon torpedo so that the now floating crew can be easily defeated by two attackers with magboots.

@phooky the $100 of linear slides and laser-cut parts combined with $0.10 zipties is marvelous.
