Imagine if trains were so frequent you could say "oh this train is really busy, I'll wait 15 mins and take the next one" all because the train service was so frequent you never needed to worry about a time table. There were no advance tickets, so you didn't have to stress about catching that one train you booked. Just walk onto the platform and get on the first train to your destination that met your balance of arrival time and busyness.

@kim_harding yes. Tho they could do with reducing their prices dramatically. And some of their international services need a massive frequency bump...

@quixoticgeek Nothing is perfect, when it comes to the fares, I think having a Swiss salary helps

@kim_harding @quixoticgeek Also frequent rail users will have a Halbtax Abo which halves the price for a relatively modest annual fee. Companies usually will only reimburse rail travel on the assumption that you have one. So for most Swiss residents the real price is 50% of list AND they have Swiss salaries. There are a fair number of special tickets at a good price suitable for tourists (Swiss TravelPass, circular tours, RailAway, day pass, 9 hour tickets)

@Hahnholio I'm in Amsterdam. The public transport just isn't good enough.
