@jon If I was to try to get from the Pyrenees, to the Belgian border, by train, with a bike, and an interrail pass, exactly how masochistic is this likely to end up being ? I'm not in a rush. And may ride a few bits?

@quixoticgeek Not too bad. All TERs take bikes, normally no reservation and sometimes a free reservation needed. So it's eminently doable, if you have some time!

@jon excellent. I want a slow, relaxed, leisurely pootle back north. So this sounds perfect. And worse case I can always ride bits where I can't take a train.

@quixoticgeek There are a couple of really nice lines through the Massif Central if you have time. Or go via Bordeaux or Lyon if you need to do it not too slowly.

@quixoticgeek Beziers-Neussargues-Clermont Ferrand, or Nimes-Clermont Ferrand - as marked in green.

@jon that western one would be perfect. Shall add it to my itinerary. Thank you !!

@jon @quixoticgeek Can recommend that route! It does take a while, so remember to pack lunch 🙂

@jon @quixoticgeek Ooh, this does sound like material for an awesome adventure. :)

@wmd @jon @quixoticgeek exceptionally in summertime they have requested passengers to buy bike tickets on especially popular TER lines, to make sure they have enough room on board. Some large cyclist groups have reported being denied boarding but this really depends on affluence (and staff bike-friendliness)
