Today's idle thought. Does Dutch even have a word for tailwind?

· · Web · 4 · 1 · 1

@quixoticgeek not to be confused with 'rukwind' also known a windvlaag or windstoot.

@wmd @quixoticgeek what's the difference? (we have rukwind in German too (Rückenwind))

@meena @quixoticgeek rugwind is the tailwind. Rukwind of windstoot (and the weaker windvlaag) are strong gusts of wind.

The difference between rukwind and windstoot is one of pulling or pushing. I would -guess- rukwind could be more sailing related because of this.

@quixoticgeek there's no such thing as a tailwind. Either there's a headwind, or you're feeling good.
