I’ve chosen this morning to cycle to “town” based on weather forecast (raining y’day & will rain tomorrow) & dwindling food supplies - but - apparently it’s a holiday in Croatia & shops are closed! Still : enjoying early lunch & sun & the river :) #LikaLodge
Rainy day at #LikaLodge : I’ve mostly tended fire & cooked, emailed a bit - and I got the best surprise in the evening: the dog is back!!! 🥰🐕🌈 (I’ve made elderflower syrup & half-baked pizza …)
Good morning from #LikaLodge : stone ecosystems edition! Delightful little “gardens” that remind me of Japanese styled arrangements & #bonsai … but IRL! Succulents, mosses, water pools … all before 6AM! Life is great!
Plants & animals this dawn near #LikaLodge : (possibly?) magic mushrooms that grow on sh!t , prickly beauty , & the face of the mountains! Bountiful nature after the rains! Plus all the birds I cannot see - but I hear them: so loud & clear!
#InterRail travel day: Zagreb-Berlin . Morning started good: after staying with family (& cat!) & receiving their help & love, I got to the train station mostly dry & on time; thd 2nd #train is leaving on time so there’s hope I’ll catch the next one (in infamous Villach)! #Seat42
Update! Due to a “Faak”-ery in the SEE/Balkans (long delay - missed my connection) & after a lot of planning & juggling with FlixBus / train options, I decided to stay overnight in Villach, then take an early train tomorrow. Now, with the cancellations because of storm damages in Germany, I do hope I will get to Berlin at all! or at least to Munich,… & then : I’ll make a new plan. #InterRain #InterRail #ClimateChaos #climate #chaos
My stay in Villach turned out to be wonderful :) I’ve napped a lot; the weather improved significantly: sunny & warm till 8PM; my hotel was a small #spa resort on the #lake - with swans! & view of #mountains! So I’ve fed the #swans this morning (radish leaves & “napolitanke”) ! & made it to the #train! Thanks #OEBB ! #InterRail #rest #day #vacation #NapMinistry
I arrived by #InterRail to Berlin (yesterday) & look who greeted me : #Linden tree ! In blossom! Its smell is enchanting… plus: an inspiring staircase for the cat & nice mural on the wall. // Friends in #Berlin , let’s catch up! Although I’m at the conference every day 5-9.6. & at training 13-14.6. … but we can try to meeet up - ping me here or on Signal.
#interRail trip continues… but first, impressions from #etc : I’ve enjoyed meeting strong women , but there was always trees in the background for me… I am taking inspiration from the turtles for the slowness… I attended the workshop about resting! And then I left… I was on the #train station on time .. -> going to #LikaLodge again!!!

I made of to the #LikaLodge last night! almost before darkness fell ;) Here are some apocalyptic views from arrival to Gračac: Sunset over a ruined silo & train leaving the station , snail invasion, broken-down houses… & my trusted e-bike, loaded with luggage ( photo from last week) : it takes one hour to cycle here!

My companions today : two dormice & a lizard. At #LikaLodge , befriended by animals . One dormouse is acrobatic & unafraid. The other one is sitting where we didn’t want him to go - that’s why we’ve put the metal net around that beam… but, they won!
More puh!!! Dormice : I saw 3 at the same time!! inside a cage that was ment to keep them outside! In the sink, licking the porridge ! Disappearing Behind the cupboard! (But I’m showing off the painting…) & on top of the fridge. There’s so many more photos & videos of them I took, but the intermittent 4G doesn’t let me post them all…

After visiting family in Zagreb yesterday, now my #InterRail continues - & in the similar fashion as two weeks ago: will not make Villach connection. This time I’ll try to get as far as possible in direction of Amsterdam & then spend the night in Düsseldorf/ Keulen? Not planning that far ahead yet ;) Good part of the trip: I’ve met lovely people & their dog Monte!

Updated plan: I’ll sleep on the night train! I got a ticket Munich-Amsterdam; good news: I’ll combine rest & travel. & make it home on time! bad news: I’m pretty tired already… train leaves quite late, compared to my habits from last week… & so I had 4+ hours of wait in/near Munich train station … so I enjoyed Turkish sweets, Balkan food & German birds for company ;) & I did a lot of reading… #InterRail
Breakfast at #Seat42 : the #NightJet 420 is not the most modern one… and this #InterRail journey will soon end…

@becha Apparently not. Maybe @zeitgenosse knows about that kind of stuff.
@linos @becha I've had a look at at EN 1153 for 2024-06-28 in the ÖBB shop (horrible usability!). Although there is no button “I already have a ticket, I just need a reservation”, you can enter your discounts where you enter your name and a (fake) phone number. One of these discounts is Interrail Euro/global pass. The price for the sleeper car (3 females) drops from ~150 to ~85.
Apparently, couchette beds and seats are completely sold out. But you may want to check again later.

Hmmm the #InterRail trip didn’t really go as planned ;) Night train was delayed for an hour so I’ve missed the bus; & it’s SO HOT in Croatia!! & the afternoon train has another 50 minutes delay… But I saw #mount Zir! & fixed the door with a life hack & recycled materials ;)
