@jon am I right in thinking if a service has RE at the start of the numbers, a Deutschland ticket works ?

@quixoticgeek With a couple of tiny exceptions where it doesn’t, generally yes. Valid in >99% trains labelled RE, RB or S.

@jon excellent. Here's hoping that the two trains I want to use aren't exceptions ...

@jon Is there a way to work out which trains the Deutschland ticket isn't valid for ?

@quixoticgeek see my pinned toot. The only ones that have a RE number where it’s NOT valid are run by DB Fernverkehr (and yeah, Fernverkehr means long distance, but they run some trains with a RE number). Find who runs a train in DB Reiseauskunft (web) or Navigator (mobile). If it’s run by anyone else and it’s a regional train it’s valid.

@quixoticgeek btw that RE1 is one of Germany’s best regional trains. Scenic route and a nice Stadler train.

@jon excellent. Does the train from Arnhem take to Dusseldorf take the Deutschland ticket? Or do I need my chipkaart as far as the border ?

@jon thank you for the help. Shame such a good idea has these tiny edge cases that makes it so complicated.

@quixoticgeek there are a few annoying exceptions. But it’s generally brilliant.
