Somewhere out there is a timeline where:

- In 2024:
Joe Biden wins his 2nd term but dies just after serving half of his term in office.

- In 2026:
V.P. Kamala Harris is sworn in as the first female President of the United States, finishing out the remainder of Biden's 2nd term.

- In 2027:
Donald Trump dies at the age of 81 of heart complications. His obituary mentions hamberders. Almost nobody attends his funeral except a dozen proud boys, sadly marching in matching khakis.

- In 2028:
Harris runs as an incumbent President against some Republican MAGA weirdo who just won't shut up about woke. She wins her first term in a landslide.

- In 2029:
Beset by a decade of financial struggles, leaderless, and without a clear governing policy, the RNC officially disbands as a national party.

- In 2030:
The MAGA Party officially forms, a coalition of neo-Nazis, transphobes, and religious extremists. They manage to elect two Senators (Alabama and Indiana) and a handful of Representatives.

- In 2031:
Puerto Rico officially joins the United States following a successful referendum and Senate vote. President Kamala Harris welcomes the 51st State into the union with open arms. Disgruntled MAGA holdouts continue to fly the outdated 50-star flag as a bizarre kind of bigoted protest against "woke America".

- In 2032:
Harris runs for a second term. Her opponent is a member of the newly formed MAGA party. The debate is broadcast on Twitch, the first of its kind. Harris wins a solid majority based on a new coalition of Democrats, ex-Republicans looking for a way out of the debacle of Trumpism, and centrists happy to just be on the side of team rational.

- In 2033:
SpaceX, in a global partnership with India and China, lands an unmanned self-driving vehicle on the moon. The mission, the first of its kind entirely self-guided by AI is hailed as a monumental technical achievement. The first thing the AI does is plant a 50-star flag on the moon and live tweet a picture of it and then use a racial slur.

@Lana In about to spend a month and a half at sea, sailing across the Pacific, with no internet connection. I’m bookmarking this post so whenever I get the urge to look up news I can just re-read this instead and continue to have a happy vacation.
