A couple of years ago a friend gave me a sous vide kit, I taught myself how to use it, did some fun experiments, and as a result have cooked some of the best steak I've ever eaten. Unfortunately it's kinda ruined eating steak in restaurants as it's usually not as good.

Similarly when I started playing with writing I learned about Chekhov's gun. As result of which it's kinda ruined a lot of movies and TV. Everything's become very predictable...

Oops.

@quixoticgeek I had the same thing when i learnt to homebrew (before i stopped drinking). i was pretty good at it, made some great beer, and became a giant beer snob :P

Follow

@Dangerous_beans likewise. I used to work for a beer importer who got some of the best beers around, most beer doesn't interest me these days.
