All time should be seconds since the epoch (1970-01-01T00:00:00+000) and the divisions of time should be the kilosecond (~16 minutes), the megasecond (~11 days) and the gigaseconds (~315 years).
For extra sci-fi-cred, seconds are to be renamed "cycles" or "ticks", as in "It has been 2.6 kilocticks since the last burn and we have 3.2 clicks per tick of delta V remaining."
